Maake is a 12-year old scavenger living in the hidden Sektor Rogvaiv (underneath Furui City and surrounded by the poisonous Mercury Moat). He assumed leadership over a community of children that all have one thing in common: they each have had one or more organs stolen. 

 

Maake's pancreas was removed by force when he was only 5. Among other complications, one of the repercurssions of this trauma was a condition named as hypersalivation - or the desire to constantly spit. Abandoned on the old shores of Sektor Meili with other children whose organs had also been stolen, Maake and the others tried to find their way back home to Sektor Athena (from where they had been kidnapped). The harsh conditions of the Caihong City wintersummers led to the death of four out of the seven children that had been abused as a result of this group kidnapping. Maake and the two remaining survivors did not end up back home but instead discovered a tunnel that led them underneath Furui City - right in the middle of the Seven Sektors of Caihong City. They soon started to call this piece of land their home and rumour spread of a secret sektor populated only by children gathered on this deserted, almost sunless island.

 

Maake looks up to Furui City (both figuratively and literally) and is convinced that salvation will come from a Supertasker bringing them justice. He regards the Second Supertask Candidate - Liu Junjie - with infinite respect and admiration.
